I was fascinated by the type and packaging of 1860s cosmetics, so I illustrated the packages and created collections poster.
Sugarfina Email Design
During my internship at Sugarfina in the summer of 2017, I worked with the creative team to design promotional emails in which to promote seasonal candy to Sugarfina email subscribers. For the S'Mores candy email, I crafted and styled the campfire header image and then created an animated gif in order to illustrate fire motion.
In addition to creating and animating the header image for the aforementioned email, I edited and retouched the photos of the candy for the Outer Space Candy email, and then organized them throughout the layout. I also assisted with typography, color palette, and overall theme.
I was inspired by traditional German blackletter typefaces to create an original modular font. Each letter is comprised of a square, rotated square, and isosceles triangle. After designing the letters, I printed and bound a small book showcasing the typeface using pronto plates, etching press, and perfect binding.
I was assigned to use Photoshop to create an animated gif conveying the phrase, "love hurts." I chose to illustrate an endless loop of expressive typography using Photoshop's frame by frame timeline animation tool.
Harry Potter Illustrations
As a fun side project, I was inspired by Harry Potter (my all-time favorite book series) to create an illustration for each of the books. I used the Paper by 53 app on the iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil to create each page.
Personal Narrative Comic
This narrative comic depicts my most embarrassing story (which was fortunately caught on video for my family to mock). I used a limited color palette to control the reader's emotional response to the story by inverting the colors at the height of the action. Additionally, I used the shape of the panels to indicate movement and capture the speed of action.
Global Warming Awareness Poster
I designed a series of three posters raising awareness to global climate change; specifically, I called attention to air and water pollution in addition to overuse of fossil fuels. I used hand-drawn typography and icons on each poster.
Group Pathways to Success Branding
During my freshman and sophomore years at Washington University, I was a graphic designer for the Harvey Media Center. I was assigned to create the brand guidelines, social media content, and printed calendars for the new Group Pathways to Success training program.
For the brand guidelines, I chose a typeface, color palette, and then created the compass logo and wordmark.
I designed a typeface based on Rosemary ITC and laser cut each letter onto a plexiglass stencil. To create this stencil font, I removed the thin lines to create an optical illusion of a full letter. Additionally, I replaced some serifs with droplet shapes. My favorite glyph is the ampersand, and I created the jar packaging design in order to visualize how the ampersand would appear as a logo.
